Design Principles

A few (design-related) principles..

Ship fast – nothing tests you and tells you which way the wind is blowing more than shipping fast, gathering feedback and iterating quickly. Few decisions are irreversible so index towards ship than not.

Build in public – showing work and getting user signal are signs of people willing to try new things, take risks, and test ideas before you go too deep. Get work out there asap, even if it's a simple early feature that doesn't have all the bells & whistles.

Show don't tell – seeing things in action gets the team closer to an answer than discussion.

More "design-y" principles

Visual Hierarchy: Structure content logically by using size, contrast, color and placement. Enable users to find what they are looking for quickly and easily and oftentimes guides they eye to key information making it easily digestible.

Typography: Use clear and legible fonts that establish a well-established hierarchy. Be consistent with font families and styles by limiting the number of variants used within a single UI.

Negative Space: Oftentimes the best use of space is to use nothing at all. Generous use of blank space around elements improve readability for key content and create visual breathing room.
